We are very pleased to share a new 3-year project  – beginning July 17-31, 2013 –  offering students and faculty access to this renowned theatre artist and craftsman.

This multi-year project cycle offers individual students and faculty-led university groups the opportunity to engage with the Fo body of work on an intense and intimate level in the country of it’s origin, with the master creator/performer himself.

Beginning July 17-31, 2013 and running each summer, for the 3 years in the cycle, a select group of young actors and select faculty members from university theatre programs in the U.S, will be chosen to participate in a two-week acting intensive focusing on the work of Dario Fo, Franca Rame and the Commedia dell’Arte. Through concentrated Commedia training and work with master teachers from both the Accademia dell’Arte and the Paolo Grassi School in Milan as well as planned participation from Fo himself, students will work to create a show consisting of some of the most popular parts of the Fo repertoire including Mistero Buffo.

Over the course of the program participants will engage and reflect on the work of Dario Fo and Franca Rame to understand the socio-historical context of the stories their work tells. Participants will also investigate how the impact of these age-old stories on audiences continues to be strong, immediate, and capable of stimulating emotion, reflection and shared ideals.

This project is open to individuals as well as university groups. Participants have the opportunity to be involved with the project for the full cycle or a single session.

While participating in the project students and faculty will live and work in the Accademia’s Villa Godiola campus just outside of Arezzo, Italy.

The APPLICATION DEADLINE is MARCH 15, 2013
