Here we are at the end of the road. All at once it feels like I’ve been here forever and for no time at all. Becca asked us what we were going to miss and then urged us to remember the sensations that we associate with the Accademia. So, I thought I might share some of my favorite sensations from here at the Accademia for those that will be coming here next to look forward to:
- the smell of fresh espresso in the morning
- feeling the cold tile under my feet
- the sound of someone opening their window
- looking over at the duomo on a foggy day
- the feeling of new sheets on linen exchange day
- the satisfying feeling of opening up the door to the limonaia on the first try
- searching around in the fruit bin for the perfect orange
- the sound of others at work
- the wind during windstorms
- hearing the birds sing during a moment of silence in class
thank you ADA for some of the best moments in my life and for some of the best friends I could ask for.

Soon
Silly Thursday nights in the studio
Will soon turn into early mornings in the studio
Ciaos
Will soon turn into hellos
Stimulating conversations at midnight
Will soon turn into videochatting in free time
Rolling hills and tall thin trees
Will soon turn into lawns and suburban hedges
Dirt roads leading to the vineyards
Will soon turn into paved sidewalks that lead to homes
Yellow walls that stain your clothes
Will soon turn into light blue walls with old posters of boy bands
Seeing the people you have grown so fond of
Will soon turn into seeing things that remind you of them
The home we have found and have come to love
Will soon turn into Home
But this also means
Calling loved ones at odd hours
Will soon turn into hugging loved ones tight
Tomatoes and fresh cheese and pasta and gelato
Will soon turn into peanut butter and jelly and chinese food and ben and jerry’s
Videochatting your best friends
Will soon turn into stimulating conversations at midnight
Home
Will soon turn into home
