This week, we have worked on clowning with Andre and Flavia and I have never had more fun. One of my main takeaways was the idea of fully letting go and giving into every instinct, regardless of how strange it may feel. Clowning is something that I had not expected to be as freeing and cathartic as it is. Something I was worried about before coming to Italy was how I would handle all of the rapid change and new situations; however, since coming here, I have learned to genuinely trust my gut and listen to myself. I know that I will always have room to push myself further, but I am already very proud of everyone here and how much determination and hard work this family has put in so far. Learning from so many different people from a variety of backgrounds has really opened my perspective on theatre and what you can make of it. It has only been one month and I have learned so much more than I could have imagined. I am so excited for these two months we have left of the semester and am ready to take on whatever they’ll bring!
