This past week, our students have been getting back into the swing of things after Spring Break. In this blog, physical theatre students Desire’, Tait and Cooper and dance student Ruthy look back on the semester thus far and talk about how things are going now.

Since starting this program, I’ve felt a huge shift in myself as a performer and also as a person because of what it’s like to be in a completely new environment, with such a tight knit group, doing really vigorous work. I feel like I take more risks, I feel emboldened to follow my instincts, and am learning how to connect with people in ways I’ve never known how.

Semester Physical Theatre Program
This week was about getting back into the groove after being away on our spring breaks. Beautiful sunsets, a day trip to Florence, and our first real foray into Commedia dell’Arte. Life is good at the Villa!
Ruthy Freeberg, Muhlenberg College
Semester Dance Program
Since the beginning of the program, I’ve found myself getting more and more comfortable in both dance and physical theatre activities. From sharing every meal together, to debriefing after long classes, laughing in the halls late at night, and having karaoke nights in the Sala Danza, life at the villa has made us all so close that working together feels very comfortable.

My favorite memory is my cabaret piece where I recreated a scene from Get Out. I recreated The Sunken Place scene and it had a really great response and was well received by my peers. It was really great to talk to everyone about it afterwards and engage in a dialogue about my interpretation.
