    Dadaism: The Heart of Nonsense

We learned about dadaism in a workshop with Alessio yesterday and it was the first time in a long time that I felt truly connected to a method of art. The reason I love it so much is because I so often feel like I don’t understand art, thus I feel that I am too dumb to be an artist, but dadaism is all about nonsense. It was created in opposition to the first world war in an attempt to be heard. The dadaists thought that the war was nonsense because no one was winning, and they weren’t being listened to, so they created nonsense to reflect what the war was putting out into the world. Dadaism isn’t supposed to mean anything. It just is. And it is in that fact that I find comfort. Attached are pictures of the sculpture we created!

Recently we learned how to tango, which we were told would help us with clowning. I’m not sure if it’s a normal part of clown training, but it was a lot of fun and inspired me to take more tango classes.
