The pure culture shock of it all is something that I am still earnestly grasping. Originally from California, I could vividly remember studying and learning about all these historical sites all over the world. Italy has presented itself with so much beauty and immense detail that it times it can be overwhelming.
This weekend, the semester programmers took a trip to Rome and got to have a masterclass with a renowned dancer/artist, Ivan Truol, as well as get to see a handful of sites all over. One of my favorite core memories was getting to see the Pantheon in all its glory. Walking into the large doors surrounded by great pillars was a jaw dropping experience. To have seen such a great architectural monument freestanding made me appreciate the artisanal skills of the craft. While also leaving me questioning how the Romans were able to construct such grand long-lasting temples for us to see today.
