Kate Clark (Dance): “Giorgio, our dance performance teacher, says not to judge yourself. We can’t say if we are doing it “right” or “wrong” or “good” or “bad. We just have to do it how we do it, and that’s myself – which is “good enough.” This also goes along with something Mitsuru and Mark said to the dancers during our Butoh intensive – “You are you, and there’s a fish inside of you.” For some reason, this really struck me. Being myself, but having that impetus from something else within me — as if my own creativity is found in a fish within my universe – made being myself not just okay, but all that I wanted to do, particularly while I danced.
I just gotta be me and that’s enough.”
