This September (2013) Sabine will be traveling to the US for an extended university campus tour along the east coast. While on tour Sabine will be visiting campuses to meet with faculty, host information sessions about studying dance abroad at the Accademia, and teaching a series of workshops and masterclasses.

So far her tour schedule includes teaching dates at Colby College, Bates College, Bennington College, Middlebury College, Holyoke College, Connecticut College, Penn State, Muhlenberg, Goucher, and Franklin & Marshall.  Sabine will be offering workshops in Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies, Choreography, as well as Masterclasses in Modern and Ballet.

Sabine will be traveling with our dance recruitment manager, Meredith Lyons, and her schedule is filling up fast.  If you are interested in having Sabine visit your school in September please contact Meredith directly.

Can you tell us more about the types of workshops and masterclasses you will be offering in the US on your tour this fall?

My classes will certainly be Laban based. Students can expect a Laban based dance technique class or improv based on Laban principles or choreography working from the “Laban tool box”. Depending on where I am and what the level of the students is I will modify the class a bit to suite their needs. I would like to challenge the students a bit and give them the opportunity to work in a creative way.

I think that when I come to the States to represent ADA it is not only about showing the students what kind of class they can expect when they choose to study with us. The main point will be that the students are able to meet someone from the program in person – in the fall that will be me. We have sent other faculty members from ADA before. That has always been a good thing because the personal contact is very important. The students can connect to the program in a different way than just looking at a website or a paper brochure.

What are you most excited about in coming to the US:

I must say that I am very happy and also proud to get the opportunity to come to the States and represent our dance program! I am pretty much excited about everything: the traveling and getting to know all these colleges and their dance programs. I am excited about meeting dance instructors, directors and students and learning how the dance programs are different from European dance programs and how they might learn from each other.

I love to teach and I love to talk to people about ADA – so I am looking forward to working with all the students that might be interested in our program and hopefully I can light up a spark and make them curious to learn more about ADA.

To book a visit to your campus this fall please contact Dance Recruitment Manager, Meredith Lyons.
